The One Academy Offers RM 1 Million Scholarship
To SPM / STPM Students
Since its inception 10 years ago, The One Academy strives
to provide the best training and guidance to young aspiring
designers in an effort to help contribute to the future
development of the nation not only in the area of art
but also in the area of new media.
The academy also seeks to award talented creative individuals
who might contribute greatly to the nation should their
talent be honed from the start. In its effort to recognise
these talents, The One Academy will be holding its second
Merdeka Day Scholarship Award in conjunction with Malaysia's
44th Merdaka Day celebrations.
Last year, more than 300 secondary school students
from all over Malaysia submitted their entries for the
Colourful Malaysia Scholarship Award which was also
held in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebrations.
Like the inaugural award, this year's award is
also opened to secondary school students who are currently
in Form Four, Five or Six.
Students who are interested in participating in the
award are required to submit their entries through their
school's art teacher or counsellor to the organizer
by 27 August 2001.
Entry forms may be obtained from The One Academy or
respective art teachers.
Winners of the award will receive scholarships to pursue
a 3-year Diploma course in either Multimedia Design,
Digital Animation, Advertising & Graphic Design, Illustration
& Comics or Interior Design at the academy after their
SPM / STPM exams.
According to Principal Tatsun Hoi, the objective of
offering the scholarships is to create a pathway for
the aspiring designers to achieve their dreams of becoming
professionals and leaders in the art & design industry.
It also aims to provide an opportunity to these students
to pursue a tertiary education in higher learning institutions
regardless of their race, religion and background.
It is our commitment to the people of Malaysia.
Since 1993, we have been offering various scholarship
awards that had helped numerous students achieve their
chosen career and become successful in it, Tatsun
said.
Moreover, the theme of the award, which revolves around
being Malaysians, will instill a sense of
pride among the students on the achievements and the
triumph of the nation throughout the years.
With this theme, we will be able to see the visions
and views of the students translated into beautiful
pieces of artworks. Hopefully, by instilling a sense
of pride among these students, it will encourage them
to participate in helping the nation achieve Vision
2020, Tatsun continued.
