Bandar Sunway: The Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat suggested that the local colleges and universities should introduce more creativity-based courses in Chinese such as advertising design to produce more talents in the thriving advertising industry.

This is especially crucial, added Ong, following the rise of China as a key economic power in the world, which has perceptibly brought to the rapid growth of Chinese advertising industry.

Ong made the above statement during the launch of the LongXi Creative Forum/ Exhibition 2007 held at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre on 6th of December. The event was co-organised by The One Academy and Ogilvy & Mather (O&M).

“Today, Chinese language advertising has become the mainstream of the international advertising market.

Fundamentally speaking, this is where The One Academy, being one of Asia’s top institutions in art, design & creative multimedia, plays its pivotal part to train the students to be equipped with the necessary creative prowess.

This is to ensure that they can enter the competitive workforce, be it locally or internationally, upon their graduation. With its ideal teaching philosophy, it comes no surprise that today, The One Academy is renowned with its graduates who now steer successful creative careers in New York, San Francisco, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Shanghai and other creative capitals worldwide.

Zayn Khan, the Country Head of Ogilvy Malaysia, commented that following the arrival of LongXi Creative Forum/ Exhibition in Malaysia this year, it showed that Malaysia has gradually become a leading cradle of top-notch creative talents.

He urged the parents to be more receptive of creative education and encourage their children to get involved in such programmes and trainings.

Also present at the forum were the Principal and Joint Managing Director of The One Academy, Tatsun Hoi, the Dean of Studies and Joint Managing Director of The One Academy, Veronica Ho, the founders of the Long Xi Award Jimmy Lam, Tomaz Mok and Peter Soh.

The Long Xi Creative Forum/ Exhibition is an offspring of the reputable Long Xi International Chinese Advertising Award, dubbed as the ‘Olympics’ for Chinese language advertising industry. The creative forum took the participants on a voyage to unravel the insights and inspirations of the advertising industry, helping them to achieve a greater height in advertising and brand-building.
