General

Do I need any art and computing knowledge before enrolling in to TOA?
No. There are no specific requirements on this. You are welcome from any educational background because you will be equipped with a strong foundation in art & design as well as computer knowledge in your 2 semesters of fundamental studies.

Is there any financial assistance provided to students?
There are 2 types: Study Loans and Scholarships.

Am I required to decide on my major during enrolment?
No. Our programmes do not require you to decide immediately because every student needs to go through our Art & Design Fundamental Studiesbefore proceeding into major years.

For Art & Design Fundamental Studies (compulsory to enter any Diploma course), students will undergo 2 semesters of classes while for Foundation in Communication Design (compulsory to enter any Degree programme), there are 3 semesters to complete.

You will choose your major during Year 1 Semester 2 . This way, you are given ample time to determine which area interests you most and also where your strength lies.

If I do not fulfil the entry requirements ( Malaysian or international ), can I apply as a mature student?
Yes.
We welcome anyone who has a passion for art and design. However, we do not automatically accept mature student and it is subject to the sole discretion of the academy to offer a places to these applicants.

Will my working experience/s be taken into consideration when I apply?
Yes.

Relevant industry and working experience will be taken into consideration for mature students. You may attach a copy of your resume / letter providing full details of your significant experience and skills attained.

Can I transfer from another college to TOA?
Definitely.

We have many students who have transferred from other colleges in Malaysia and internationally.

If you wish to apply for transfer, you will need to fulfil our entry requirements (Malaysian or international ) as well as provide the relevant documents for application purposes.

Will all my credits achieved from another college / institution be accepted?
You are eligible to apply for subject exemptions. However the approval of these credits would be based on the sole discretion of the academy.

What do I need to provide to make my subject exemption application easier?
You should provide us full information of your prior studies in the application form as well as relevant transcripts, portfolio and other evidence of studies or course syllabus describing all your courses.

What is withdrawal?
This is when you turn down our offer to enter the academy after a successful application. Your registration and tuition deposit fees are neither refundable nor transferable.

What is deferment?
To pause your studies due to unforeseen circumstances. Your tuition deposit will not be forfeited as long as you inform the Registrar’s Office prior to the intake commencement. This is valid for / within 12 months.

If I join 2 weeks after the initial closing date, will I be able to catch-up?
You would need to be extra hardworking and manage your time to complete the assignments you’ve missed throughout the 2 weeks. However, we do not encourage you to enrol after the closing date.
